Petition · Secretary of State for Housing: Stop Large Scale Development on Greenfield Sites in Ryde, Isle of Wight? · Change.org

The building on large greenfield sites and pending planning applications such as West Acre Park in Ryde absolutely devastate Ryde’s countryside within its boundary. The granting of planning permission for West Acre Park (465 Houses) along with out-line planning permission already approved at Pennyfeathers will mean Ryde within its boundary is an urban sprawl. The loss of Westridge Farm will mean Ryde within its boundaries will finally loose its historic relationship with the last working farm in Ryde. This loss will mean children in the Town will loose the opportunity to visit a farm close by and learn about food production. A farming family of four generations will loose their home and livelihood. Ryde already has within its boundary and on its boundary (Harcourt Sands) over 1600 new houses for outline or planning planning permission. The Petition is a may you can actively protest against any further development.
